Time moves on ... And that is a good thing - childhood was
fresh because it was new, but how stale the world would be if it were ours
forever... And so we begin to let loose, like autumn leaves, one here, one
there, perhaps a few more closer together over the next few years, others
later, all in time ... It is natural, it is right, though bittersweet.
Once upon a time, life and its passing
were more communal. More people lived closer to where they were born, and knew
each other from cradle to grave. But today, how many grade school classmates do
you recognize, let alone “know” in a meaningful way? That is our loss: of community and continuity.
And that is why our GHS ’70 luncheons, newsletters,
and other alumni events are important. We all grew up together in the Sixties … And
now that we have arrived in our 60s, it is indeed time we got to know each
other better!
I hope more will join us in the months ahead.
Come to the luncheons when you can, and if you can’t, participate in other
ways: send me “Blast from the Past” photos, your personal profile/perspective, news,
whatever ... Reach out! Participate!
